FIFA president Infantino attends match between Iran and Costa Rica

TEHRAN- Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, attended the friendly match between Iran and Costa Rica in Turkey.

In the match held in Antalya's Mardan Stadium, Team Melli defeated their South American opponent 5-0.

The FIFA president, in a conversation with Enrique Asuedo, Mexican journalist, said, "We live in a real world and we know that the situation is very complicated.However, we are trying, and we want to ensure that Iran will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup under the best possible conditions."

He emphasized: "The national team of Iran, as well as all the teams representing it, belong to the people. This team belong to all the people - those who support the government and those who oppose it. In every nation, whether they are in opposition or in power, it makes no difference, football belongs to the people."

Iran are drawn in Group G along with Belgium, New Zealand and Egypt.
